Below are some resources that have benefited me greatly. The first list is comprised of books that have impacted me in great ways. The second list is comprised of links to websites and blogs that are always filled with solid, gospel-centered content. I hope these are helpful to anyone searching for something good and challenging to read!

Books I highly recommend:

  • ESV Study BibleCrossway Bibles. This bible has revolutionized my study of the Word. It is jam-packed with notes and commentary. Extremely helpful for understanding Scripture.
  • Desiring God – John Piper. The most important book I’ve read outside of the bible. “God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.”
  • Don’t Waste Your Life - John Piper. An incredible challenge to people (especially youth!) who want to live a full and satisfying life to the glory of God.
  • The Religious AffectionsJonathan Edwards. A difficult but rewarding read. Edwards explains in great detail what role affections (or emotions, desires) have in the life of the Christian. Worth the effort in reading.
  • Radical and Radical Together - David Platt. Two separate books challenging both the individual and the church as a whole to live sacrificially for the gospel.
  • Crazy LoveFrancis Chan. Similar to David Platt’s books, Chan challenges believers to live for something bigger than the American Dream.
  • What Is A Healthy Church?Mark Dever. An important read for understanding the biblical foundations for a healthy church.
  • The Mortification of Sin - John Owen. Another difficult but rewarding read. Owen challenges believers to kill sin on a daily basis.
  • Systematic Theology - Wayne Grudem. A large reference/study book devoted to helping Christians of all ages understand biblical doctrines.

The following is a list of websites I visit regularly:

  • The Gospel Coalition. I highly recommend the blogs of Tullian Tchividjian, Justin Taylor, and D.A. Carson. Also use the resources tab to search for specific topics, sermons, and everything else you can imagine!
  • Desiring God. The blogs here are great as well. You can’t go wrong clicking through the resources page. The “Ask Pastor John” section is full of videos and articles from John Piper answering tough questions that are commonly asked.
  • Challies Dot Com. Tim Challies’ online blog features great articles, links to other great articles, and free giveaways every Friday.
  • Study Light. A tremendous research for studying the bible. The site features hundreds of free commentaries, sermons, and language studies. It’s a great online library for studying Scripture.
